ACT NOW ! TELL GOVERNOR CUOMO TO STOP BAILING OUT THE FOSSIL FUEL INDUSTRY

The Governor's Public Service Commission will soon be making a decision on the future of the unprofitable Cayuga Power Plant.

Cayuga's proposal takes a giant step back to the 20th century - asking NYSEG customers to pay an indefensible $145 million to bail out a dying coal plant by adding frack-gas to the climate changing mix.

NYSEG's proposal offers a 21st century solution - increasing the efficiency and reliability of the electric grid at a fraction of the cost ($55 million) while also supporting the Lansing community with sustainable energy projects and green job development.

The choice is clear: the Public Service Commission should end this boondoggle and reject Cayuga's regressive proposal, which is not in the best interests of either the ratepayer or the environment.  And Governor Cuomo should ensure the plant workers and the Lansing community get the support they need to transition to a new economy.
