Fossil Free Tompkins works to organize and amplify Tompkins County’s collective voice against fossil-fuel dependence -- taking action at the local and state level to stop buildout of fracking and fossil-fuel infrastructure and to support the development of a just, local, sustainable energy economy.


In Nov 2014 Governor Cuomo announced that there would be no fracking in New York State. The decision was finalized in June 2015.

Once the threat of fracking seemed no longer imminent, anti-fracking activists Irene Weiser and Jane Whiting set their sights on another concern - the fossil fuel dinosaur in their own backyard: the Cayuga Power Plant
